Mouse
My third dog and first Weimaraner was Mouse. Her full name was Pretty Mouse of the Grey Noble.
She was born on 5th of September 1991 and on 21st of February 2006 I had to say goodbye to her. Mouse was a great dog; my ‘super’ Mouse. She was very obedient and loyal but she did
not act like a gundog. Rabbit, duck or game had to be buried according to Mouse. She refused to retrieve. Mouse was a specialist in small game such as mice and salamanders. She could lay down at a mouse hole for hours. (Maybe I should have given her another name!) Mouse had a lot of fun in obedience training. She got her Cynophilia Gedrag en Gehoorzaamheid 3 diploma, which is the highest level of obedience here in Holland. Mouse was (as far as we know) the first Weimaraner that had that diploma here.
Mouse did very well in the show ring too. Very quickly she had 3 CC’s en one Res. CC. She won the Weimaraner Club match in 1993 in the shorthair category. She was Best bred Dutch dog in that year. At the shows people were unpleasant to one another which made the atmosphere terrible, so I thought that my time could be spent better by taking Mouse to the woods for long walks. Mouse agreed! I realised then it was time to stop showing her. Mouse was almost 14 ½ years old when I had to let her go. I still miss her every day.
